KL University marked the National Radio Day with a special campus-wide celebration that highlighted radio’s journey and its continued relevance in the digital era. The event witnessed students, faculty, media professionals, and law enforcement officials come together and reflect on the medium’s enduring impact.
The event was organized by the KL Radio team, drawing strong participation from the university community. The chief guest, S.K. Sherina Begum, DCP of NTR District Traffic, addressed the gathering and emphasized that radio remains a powerful communication tool, particularly in rural areas where it continues to serve as a dependable medium.
What stood out even more was that she used the platform to underline the importance of road safety among youth. Stressing responsible riding practices, helmet usage, and adherence to traffic norms, she urged students to become ambassadors of awareness.
Further, during the event, DCP Sherina Begum and Registrar Dr. K. Subbarao unveiled two key posters titled “Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility” and “Surabhi 2026.” The unveiling symbolized the integration of social awareness with cultural engagement on campus.
The program also featured interactive sessions by RJ Sweety from Red FM and RJ Lucky from Radio Mirchi. They engaged students in conversations about communication skills, confidence building, and the importance of expression during college years.
The event further highlighted a collaborative initiative between the KL Radio team and the police department, where students will provide technological support to enhance public safety outreach. This partnership reflects KL University’s commitment to applying innovation for community impact.
Radio, once a scientific breakthrough that transformed wireless signals into sound, has remained a trusted source of information, education, and entertainment across generations. From analog receivers to FM broadcasting and now digital streaming, radio continues to adapt without losing its human connection.
Recognizing the importance that radio holds even today, KL University, one of the top universities in South India, took this initiative of blending academic excellence with societal engagement.
Through more such initiatives, KLU will continue to reinforce its vision of education that extends beyond classrooms, connecting technology, communication, and civic responsibility.
