Let’s be honest – not every bit of kit in the surgery needs to be flashy or high-tech to be important. Sometimes, it’s the everyday tools that quietly do the heavy lifting. For me, the three things I couldn’t work without are the air polisher, the implant motor, and a good set of dental cements.
Starting with the air polisher – if you’ve not made the switch yet, you’re missing out. It’s quicker, less messy, and way more comfortable for the patient than the old-school scaling and polishing. No gritty paste going everywhere, no horrible scraping sound – just a fine powder with air and water, doing the job nicely. Patients always notice the difference, and usually ask why it wasn’t like that before.
Next up, the implant motor. Doing implants without one feels like hard work. Having control over the torque and speed just makes everything smoother. It’s not just about precision – it actually makes the whole procedure feel more relaxed. And at the end of a long day, your hands don’t feel completely knackered.
And then we’ve got dental cements. Not exactly glamorous, but absolutely vital. The right cement can be the difference between a crown that lasts five years and one that pops off in six months. There’s loads of types, and it’s worth knowing which to use when – don’t just grab whatever’s closest.
These tools might not be the newest trend, but they make a real difference. They save time, reduce stress, and make patients happier. And honestly, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?
